New Blog Template

I've had the same template since I started blogging, so maybe it's time for a change. How is this one? Do you like the colors? I've made the "Fjordman" heading larger, as it was probably too small in the old version.

Fjordman,
I have wanted to change my blog template for a long time, and this one particularly appeals to me. However, I have never gone to this one because it seems to pretty for the subject matter.

Looks very nice to me, Fjordman!

(I'm Empire1 at LGF, btw.)

Don't like it. Your links, which are in dark blue are illegible against the dark green background and hard on the eyes. You can change the link color to a nice contrast against the green, say yellow or very light green, or do what 'cuz says and create something unique to suit your site. My 2 cents.

Looks nice but I have to agree that the links in that blue are more difficult to read. You could add a color code in the anchor html, but that would be a hassle everytime. I don't think Blogger gives you an option on the link text color. It's no big deal to me if they stay blue.

Cuz: Do you do web design? I just pick one from the selection at Blogger.com.

I like the colors on this one, but it is true that the links look a bit strange. I could change the colors used for links, but then all my old posts will be "wrong". Maybe I should try another template.

Fjordman, I have no problem with the template, but the sidebar still drops to the bottom on my screen.

If there are no glitches like there were in the "sweden" post, then you might want to look at the template for the "width" settings of the different sections. Normally they give about 430 pixels for the post, 250 or so for the sidebar, and some filler in between, all adding up to the blog width, which is generally somewhat less than 800 to allow for background decoration showing at the side.

However: In your case, it may be the google search insert on the sidebar, which seems to be wider than the designated width setting on the sidebar. That forces the sidebar to expand, but the whole blog is still constrained within its width limit, pushing the sidebar to the bottom.

Possible solutions:

1. Abandon the google insert.
2. Move it to the header or footer sections of the template.
3. Widen the sidebar enough to allow it to fit in (including the google), while narrowing the post section by the same amount.

I hope I'm not interfering too much. :)

It looks attractive, but more important it is easy on the eyes.

This type of thinking

"If it suits you, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. These things are extremely personal"

Is only valid IF you are not interested in whether anyone actually reads what you write.

Myself I usually shunn sites were the text is all but Illegible.
You know he ones I mean almost black backgrounds dark text, thought it is true if I am interested in what they write I will outline the text like I was going to copy and paste it.,

Most folks won't go to that much trouble they will just click on.

Now if a blogg is just a ego thing it does not matter what it looks like, if however you wish to present your IDEAS?

It is best to try to look at the page through the eyes of your readers. Not what please US as writers, but what is going to make it easier for our readers to read what we write.

Example a friend once showed me some business cards with a really elaborate scrript I mean they were beautiful, you could not read it unless you already new what it said but they sure were pretty.

Fjordman: you can find some more (and in my opinion more beautiful) templates on http://blogger-templates.blogspot.com/

They tell you also how to remove the anoying blogger bar above.

I agree with Cuz. Your template is attractive but has nothing suggestive of your persona. Blue links illegible. Sidebar no longer at top right.
