Saudi Law Protects Sacredness of Prophet's Mosque

There are many non-Muslims who have studied Islam. They have come across stories that interest and attract them towards visiting the holy cities of Makkah and Madina. However, by law non-Muslims are not allowed in the holy cities of Makkah and Madina. Shaikh Asim Al-Hakeem says that the visiting of the holy cities by the non-Muslims is prohibited in Islam and it is stated in the Qur an. Huge sign boards can be seen on entering the boundary of both Makkah and Madina, stating the prohibition of the non-Muslims to enter. The prohibition mentioned in the Qur an is only for the Holy city of Makkah, Hakeem said. Hakeem said that visiting by the non-Muslims of the Prophet s mosque is not forbidden in Islam. The ban for the non-Muslims visiting the Prophet s mosque is the Saudi government law, said Hakeem. The Qur an states the prohibited boundary for the non-Muslims, which is the area wider than the holy mosque itself. The proscribed area is not just the mosque itself but also the city, said Al-Hakeem. It is not appropriate for non-Muslims to object to the restriction on them to enter Makkah and Madina. The Saudi Government bans the visiting of the non-Muslims as a protection of the Prophet s mosque and to avoid any intrigues or attempts at the destruction of the holiest and most valuable places of Islam.
